Waterfield Designs' iPod Gear Pouch

Finally a bag that was made for me. Not literally, but the iPod Gear Pouch from Waterfield Designs is a bag that holds all of my iPod gear and the rest of my “handheld tech”. The pouch has two compartments with neoprene pockets to hold your iPod, headphones, and other iPod accessories. Of course, most of us just have the iPod and our headphones but true geeks have the iPod and all of its accessories (I will cover those in a moment). Click Comments for the entire review.

As with any Waterfield bag, the gear pouch merges style with function to create a great bag. Each case they make has only the end user in mind and they spare no expense to make their bags exceptional. The zippers are of great quality, and the outside is thick and easily repels everyday dirt and dust. There is also a checkerboard style print around the edge to give the iPod gear pouch some extra flavor. Upon opening the front pocket, there are two pockets to hold small things like your headphones (if they are ear buds or they fold up), iPod dock and firewire cable. I also put my Send station Pocket Dock in there as well.
The center has three neoprene sections that fit the iPod and its two most popular accessories perfectly. The iPod goes in the center of course. You can use Radtech’s PodSleeve and still be able to fit iPod and case in there. If you are using another iPod case like Contour Showcase or iSkin Evo you will have to take the iPod out of those cases to put it in the iPod compartment. The other two side areas are made specifically for the Belkin Media Reader and one of the two voice recorders (Griffin’s iTalk and Belkin’s Voice Recorder). You can also fit other tech items in the larger area of the center compartment like a small digital camera or PDA if you would like.
There are little straps hanging off the side of the bag and even if it was not intended you can attach a shoulder strap to the bag and use it as a case to carry your gear comfortably. I would recommend Waterfield to have an optional shoulder strap. I used a strap everytime.
After two days of having the bag, I put everything in there, iPod gear, wallet, contacts, digi-camera, firefly mini hard drive, and my iSight. I carried the pouch alongside my iBook in its Waterfield Notebook Sleeve. They were a great combination. When I wore the bag everywhere; friends would ask me if I was carrying a purse. I just told them it was a mand-bag. That is not a misprint; instead of handbag, I have adopted the Waterfield iPod Gear Pouch as a mand-bag for everyday use. Get it? MANd bag? It is small, light and can hold an amazing amount of gear. I will continue using the Gear Pouch and I dub it the Waterfield mand-bag. I suggest to everyone trying out the iPod Gear Pouch from Waterfield Designs today.
