Spymac Spycase.12

Since it's inception, Spymac has grown by leaps and bounds, from it’s birth as one of the earliest Mac-only communities, to the behemoth international authority on all things cool (and Mac) that it is today. Throughout the course of the transition, they have released new services, such as Wheel and Pro-mail, and products including hats, bags, and stylish penholders. Not only do these products show one’s dedication and love for the Mac, but also the finely designed Italian cases just scream, “cool”. Our first review of the Spymac line is Spycase.12, the smallest of the Spycases.

Of all the cases we here at My Personal Getaway have looked at, this is by far, the new favorite. “Upon arrival” the first thing that stood out was the sophistication and quality emanating from this bag. The high quality materials are made to last the life of your notebook, but if Spymac has it their way, you might go through several powerbooks before this bag needs to be replaced. The design of the case is that of one very similar to the website. Sleek and elegant are the first words to mind. The solid black body is capped off with a silver lining, and several well-placed Spymac “smoking man” logos. It’s clear from just a glance around the outside, more work was put into this than just sewing on their logo.

The strap of the bag is very comfortable. Even under the weight of a fully loaded bag, it never becomes uncomfortable to wear it. In addition to the padded strap, there is a sturdy plastic handle on the case. The handle pivots to allow for easy pick-up, but still won’t hurt your hand after repeated use. Another added feature are the two flapped side pockets. These allow for easy storage of nick-knacks like CDs and cables. All and all, a great case. Now to the inside.

The first thing you notice when you open up a Spymac case is the vast array of pockets. A few pockets for this and that, how ever the main focus here is the iPod holder. With a built-in cut-out for a docking cable, the design allows for incase operation, much the way the laptop holder does. A very secure system of latches and straps keep the machine in place, all without making a scratch. The system works so well in fact, a small drop off a bed or low desk won’t phase the machine a bit.

At first, this bag seamed like another over-priced gimmick. “What could possibly make this bag worth the money” I asked my self. After seeing one at Macworld however, I changed my tune. I picked one up right away and haven’t left it alone since then. If you care about your computer, this is the case for you. With every thing you could ever want in one bag, why not spend on the money and go for that extra bit of class and style embodied in this wonderful case by Spymac.
