Apple's October 26th Press Event [RECAP]

Apple held a press event on October 26th with U2 and only the big wigs of media and press were invited. As of now, no stream is available but we will keep you updated. The following is a summary of today's multitude of announcements...

1. U2 iPod: The iPod is black, signed by the band (in laser engraving) and has a $50 dollar coupon towards the pruchase of the $149 dollar online box-set of U2's complete catalog. The iPod has a red scroll wheel has 20gbs of storage and costs $349 (fifty dollars more than the standard 20gb).

2. iPod Photo: The 40 and 60gb configurations are priced at $499 and $599 respectively and carry 10k or 15k of your digital tracks. With iTunes 4.7 (released today) auto-sync keeps your music and photos (from iPhoto on Mac or other crappy apps on Windows) in sync. The Photo Pod has a vivid color screen w/ backlight and you scroll through your albums or photo library with the scroll wheel in a "gallery" mode then click the picture you would like to view full screen. The new sizes make for an available 15 hours of battery life for music and 5 hours of slideshows on the iPod or over TV with a new "TV-Out" on the iPod Photo.

3. New iTunes Music Store localizations: The following were released today.
Austria, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.
Canda will be coming in November

4. iTunes 4.7 was released (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/). It only adds support the new iPod Photo, nothing more.

5. QT 6.5.2 was released (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone/). Also, I am sure just bug fixes and support for the new iPod. Other than that, nothing that will effect us.

There is a live satellite broadcase at 3:30 PM ET for recaps of the announcements. They should be showing it at local Apple Stores
