iSkin ProTouch PB

As a notebook user, I face a lot of challenges. Portability is the best aspect of owning a notebook, but there are problems that occur when using the stylish beast all day while at school or work. One problem is the keyboard. My fingerprints easily get transferred from my keyboard to the LCD display when I close the lid, and my keys wear out over time and get extremely dirty. Only a month after getting your notebook, dirt and dust gets down in the keys. Powerbook owners can’t remove their keyboards on the latest PowerBooks, so that makes an even worse problem for them.

iSkin, makers of the Exo II, Evo and other products for your iPod and Mac have a keyboard protector that works. The one size fits all ProTouch PB fits all of Apple’s notebooks and comes in a variety of colors. I was afraid typing would be very difficult on the plastic but it was easier. The keys were not bouncy and my fingers hit the correct key each time. The great thing about the ProTouch, it is molded to fit the keyboard. When you lay the piece over the top of your notebook, it form fits on each key and looks like nothing is there, unless you got a colored piece. There is a plastic lining that extends past the keys on each end, and even protrudes out the side of the 12” Powerbook, but that is a small price to pay for this easy to use keyboard protector.
After a few minutes of use, the plastic actually fit on the keys a lot tighter as air bubbles were pushed off the keyboard. This made for even better typing. The best thing was, after a week of using the product, my keys were still clean and dirt free. The same product is available for your Apple Pro Keyboard. I have one of those and will post the review shortly. You can order your own ProTouch PB from iSkin at http://iskin.com Their site is really easy to navigate too. At a great price, every notebook owner should get one of these. You can even get your name or company logo printed on the keyboard space bar section for an extra fee. That is a really nice feature.
