UPDATED: Apple Bumps iBook Models w/ Superdrive

April 20th: Apple today announced new iBook configurations, sticking to its three model format – one 12-inch and two 14-inch incarnations – and topping off its low-end model with a 1 GHz G4 processor while sticking to its aggressive $1099 price point. Additionally, a $200 SuperDrive is now available as a BTO option on the 14-inch iBook.

1 GHz, 256MB RAM; ATI Mobility 9200; 30 GB HD; Combo Drive: $1099

14-inch
1 GHz; 256MB RAM; ATI Mobility 9200; 40 GB HD; Combo Drive: $1299
1.2 GHz; 256MB RAM; ATI Mobility 9200; 60 GB HD; Combo Drive: $1499

UPDATE: Another thing we noted while ordering one of the new iBooks for a test machine was the fact that you can get up to 1.25Gbs of ram now. Before, you could only max out the iBook ram at 640Mbs. Many people in the know would order the minimum ram, then spend 500 bucks and order the 1gb chip from an outside vendor. It is great to see that much ram in the consumer level notebook. Sadly the Vram is the same as previous iBooks. This is to not compete with the Powerbook line.
