Apple Unveils Faster Powerbooks!

April 19th: This is huge news. Apple has finally updated their powerbook line. The speeds are incredible, the price is great, and they all have the charicteristics of powerbooks. Remember when the 12" powerbook was just a speedbumped iBook? Well, the 12" has 64mbs of Vram in a Go5200 graphics card, a 1.33 GHZ G4 processor, but sadly still no firewire 800 after a year of being put in the 17" powerbook. The other two of Apple's pro portables got a bump as well. The 17" and 15" powerbooks have speeds starting at 1.33 Ghz up to 1.5 Ghz. They each have 512K of level 2 cache like before but come with a 4x superdrive. This is double the speed as before. The top two models also have ATI 9700 graphics cards.
The Powerbook family has finally seperated from the iBooks and has specs to blow any other PC laptop out of the water. I would take the porability of the powerbook over the G5 anyday, and with these speeds we have the powerto run Apple's latest offerings of Final Cut HD and Apple Motion 1.0.
