Waterfield Designs' Vertigo

The second new case to Waterfield’s line is the Vertigo. Available in one size for only $79 dollars, it is a great price for a Waterfield Bag. Of course, the Vertigo has a lot of storage space while maintain its sleek look with plenty of pockets. I did have a few problems with the case; like lack of a computer compartment. The shoulder strap feels awesome and did I mention the pockets?

With a leather strip on its face, two pockets on the outside, and tons of space inside, it is one of the best vertical bags I have used. The shoulder strap is very well sewn to the body of case so there will be no tearing of the seam due to weight. The shoulder strap, sold separately, is worth the money. It is so comfortable and feels amazing even when you are carrying around schoolbooks. This is not a messenger style case where you put the strap across you body; instead it rests on the shoulder that the bag sits on your hip. These bags tend to hurt the shoulder eventually but Waterfield conquered that with the shoulder strap.
The lack of handles is a disappointment. I can’t keep a bag on my shoulder all day, so sometimes I opt to carry it with my hand for a few moments but Waterfield made the Vertigo strictly shoulder carrying only. Another feature that does not make sense to me is lack of computer sleeve. Their other new case, the Cosmo, has a built in sleeve to slip your computer in. This case can hold a 12” iBook / Powerbook at least so why not add the sleeve? It is deep enough for those two computers. I could either put the computer in fear of it scratching or use my Waterfield Sleeve or Radtech Powersleeve to put my computer in, and then place them in the bag. That is the only option for those of you that need to transport their computer with books.
The Vertigo has a great form factor, with the black bag having a black leather strip, solid shoulder strap and gold interior with plenty of pockets for your gear (excluding your computer), I think this is great for the college bound student carrying heavy books and other miscellaneous items.
