Day-5:

Spymac is more than a website. They have services and backend technologies that make it useful even when your browser is not pointed at Spymac.com. There is E-mail starting at 1Gb of storage with Webmail and Pop3 access. You can get email capacity up to 3 Gigabytes and Pop3, Webmail and IMAP. Spymac also has a suite of services called Wheel. This makes the website Ad-free with more gallery and hosting space. You also have utilities for backing up files and hosting iCal Calendars. The software works for Mac and PC. Finally, there is an existent support system with FAQs and info on topics that you may be experiencing problems with. I will follow up with some areas to suggest new Spymac features and resolve issues not solved in the Support area or in the Support forum.

When you sign up for your Spymac account, an email address is waiting for you. Most users just login to the Webmail. You can access it from the Spymac website in the “Mail” tab. The interface loads with your new emails. You can compose emails and add attachments up to 25mbs. Although not many will use 1GB of space, it is nice to have that flexibility. For users of Microsoft Outlook, Apple’s Mail and other Desktop mail clients, Spymac has offered Pop3 and IMAP support. IMAP and POP3 configuration support documents are available at the following address
(http://www.spymac.com/support/index.php?threadid=3). There is no need for me to retype them if already provided. You should also try to find the info in the welcome E-mail you were sent after signing up for an account.

Wheel is Spymac’s Internet tools and is often compared to Apple’s .Mac suite of applications and services. General Wheel information is available at http://spymac.com/wheel It includes 3GB email w/ IMAP support. An Ad-Free Spymac plus your blog is Ad Free as well. There is WheelDrive, an online hard drive at 250Mbs of storage. It mounts in your finder or desktop and you can move files to it with super fast transfers. WheelGuard is backup software that works with your online Hard disk. It also backups to DVDs, Cds, and external hard drives like the iPod. You can post iCal calendars online, and tons of extra deals when it comes to software and Spymac.com merchandise.

Spymac also has a Support system at http://spymac.com/support They have many documents relating to every service and section of the website. You can usually find an answer to your problem there. If it is no where to be found or you do not have time to browse the support database, I suggest writing a topic with your problem and under what circumstances you are having this problem at the Spymac Support room (http://www.spymac.com/forums/threadlist.php?catid=19). A final resort to problems that needed to be resolved now is emailing You can also send notes to the Tech support team. Jaime and Jason_Leverton. Both will offer help quickly. A list of online moderators is available at the bottom of the Forums main page. Click their name and send them a note from there. There is a toll-free number for paying subscribers, that number is available when you purchase one of their services and is not public knowledge.

There is a forum called “Site Comments” that is there to comment on services and suggest new features to the Spymac website. Constructive criticism is allowed but it is best that you keep flaming or offensive material to your member forum or blog. If you need to post that kind of material send it to the tech support team directly instead of causing problems in the public forums. Most flame threads will be closed anyway.

This concludes the final part of the Newb’s guide to Spymac. We have covered a lot of ground and if you have lasted this long, I congratulate you. Feel free to contact me at or send a note to user # 12869 for more questions and comments on the segment.
